Gok Wan has launched a new eatery where customers enjoy meals served from beneath them.

The 50-year-old television personality and cook is welcoming food enthusiasts to his restaurant FLOORS located in Islington, north. London , where they will enjoy Asian-inspired cuisine on the vinyl flooring underneath them.

Amidst the absence of regular plates, those indulging in meals find their portions presented within safeguarded containers crafted from organic substances placed straight onto the flooring.

People with hearty appetites can enjoy a sampling platter featuring lychee ceviche presented in a cold oyster shell, meats steamed inside a lotus leaf, black bean peppercorn beef alongside duck and oyster mushrooms, all rounded off with a black sesame mochi cake paired with fuyu sour cream and completed with an edible rice paper invoice.

"FLOORS" was developed by Bosch following a survey of 2,000 adults which showed that 75 percent would avoid eating food that fell onto the floor in a dining establishment.

A daring 23 percent declared they might contemplate eating at a place where food is served from the floor if they could verify cleanliness standards were met.

However, the brand aims to flip things around for the remaining 58 percent who firmly reject floor dining, by designing an area where the floor becomes something to embrace rather than shun.

The creators of the Unlimited 10 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner funded both the study and the pop-up diner, an experience that guests can reserve exclusively for one evening on Friday, May 9th.

Mr Wan stated, "It has been wonderful hosting today; everybody is sitting on the floor while I stand up, which makes me feel quite dominant."

I would consume almost anything from the floor within five seconds if I were aware of how clean it is, unless it’s soup.

'A lot of people wouldn’t consume food once it’s dropped on the floor, particularly in a dining establishment—but for me, I’m less particular about such things.'

The research indicated that for dinner dates, over one in ten people (14 percent) believe it’s fine to consume food that was briefly dropped on the floor, provided it’s picked up within five seconds.

Nevertheless, precisely 75% of the respondents stated that the 'five-second rule' is completely not allowed in restaurants because it’s considered unacceptable to consume food that has fallen on the floor.

Almost one out of every ten people (ten percent) confessed that they might pick up and eat something that dropped on the floor if it weren’t in an upscale dining establishment.

However, accidentally sending food airborne doesn’t seem to ruffle many feathers; even those enjoying a meal-for-two remain unfazed. In fact, 27 percent would find themselves chuckling and joking about it if their date’s dinner wound up on the floor instead.

Nearly one in four people (23 percent) would offer to clean it up, 21 percent would keep eating without missing a beat, whereas an courteous 18 percent would act as though they didn’t notice the fallen plate.

When it comes to their own houses, 42 percent believe their floors are spotless enough for dining, whereas 31 percent feel less confident about this.

When offered the opportunity to reserve a 'Floor Dining Experience,' where meals are creatively set up on the floor, 64 percent would find it odd—even if spotlessly clean.

Although 11 percent admitted that they had dedicated their lives to not consuming food from the floor, this commitment would deter them from giving it a try.

A representative from Bosch stated: "This culinary journey is centered around breaking barriers and envisioning new possibilities."

'Equipped with the proper utensils, the flooring has the potential to be the highlight of your dining occasion.'

We're thrilled to reshape opinions and introduce an unprecedented degree of cleanliness to surprising locations.
