
(WNDU) - Numerous residents in Michiana remain without electricity after powerful storms moved through the region on Thursday evening.
By noon on Saturday, Indiana Michigan Power has reported around 8,800 service disruptions within its coverage region, mostly affecting southwestern Michigan. Of these, more than 6,800 outages are occurring in Berrien County, and Cass County is experiencing slightly above 1,300 outages.
I&M expects that the majority of southwestern Michigan customers will have their electricity back by 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, NIPSCO Reports indicate over 14,000 power disruptions; however, most of these incidents occur in parts of northwest Indiana not within our broadcast range. In the Michiana region, the biggest disruption is happening in Michigan City with more than 1,200 affected customers.
Midwest Energy & Communications is also reporting approximately 3,600 disruptions throughout southwestern Michigan.
